Handcrafted

Samuel graduated from Auburn University with a degree in  Industrial Design, concentrating on furniture design. He  apprenticed in design at George Nakashima Woodworkers in New  Hope, PA where he further refined his aesthetic and embraced a  philosophy-led approach to woodworking. Spending a decade in  New York City, working with some of the finest craftsmen in the  U.S., Samuel built fine furniture and millwork for acclaimed interior  designers, artists and A-list clientele. He has spent his adult life  perfecting his craft and expanding his knowledge of woodworking  techniques.

Samuel has a deep appreciation for the classic techniques of  Japanese woodworking and joinery and the minimalist style of American Shaker design. Allowing the beauty of quality wood to influence the design process is integral to his goal of crafting timeless pieces that will serve as beloved elements in your home.

Now back in his hometown of Birmingham, AL, Samuel looks forward to creating with the talented artists, makers and craftsmen  of the South and adding his perspective to his clients’ needs.

The integrity of design, technique and functionality of his work  reflect Samuel’s devotion to delivering quality fine furniture. He feels honored to craft objects around which memories are made, providing heirlooms to be passed down for generations. From initial design concepts to selection of wood type, Samuel’s passion for the craft and an intimate knowledge of the material add to the balance of strength and beauty that furniture making requires.
