“A Chair is a very difficult object. A skyscraper is almost easier.” -Mies van der Rohe

The subtle and gentle movement of a rocking chair has been used since the 18th century to lull infants to sleep. Creating a chair shares many similarities to parenting, at first you might not know where to start but through trial and error something beautiful emerges. The geometry required to create a comfortable chair is complex but wood as a medium allows the creator to make subtle adjustments through planing, rasping and sanding.
